Native to the Russian Far East China and Japan this attractive nitrogen fixing shrub has dark green leaves with showy silvery undersides. Very productive of ¾” reddish sweet tart fruits that follow fragrant yellow flowers and makes good bee forage. Fruits make good jams sauces or pies and are tasty eaten fresh off the bush. They are also used medicinally for digestive and tonic purposes. These plants are easy to grow and tolerant of a wide range of soils. Partially self-fertile. Zones 4-8.
